Guitar Chords For Beginners | The Eight Most Common Guitar Keys

2009 April 4

Here’s a handy chart with most of the guitar keys you’re likely to encounter as a beginner guitar player. I’ve included a couple of the keys that use flats, and I’ve put the Roman numerals above them so you can figure out your I IV V’s in whatever key you’re using. So lets say you want to find a I IV V in the key of G, start on the line beginning with “G” then find I – G, IV – C, and V – D. Pretty easy.

I ii iii IV V vi viio
A Bm C#m D E F#m G#dim
Bb Cm Dm Eb F Gm Adim
B C#m D#m E F# G#m A#dim
C Dm Em F G Am Bdim
D Em F#m G A Bm C#dim
E F#m G#m A B C#m D#dim
F Gm Am Bb C Dm Edim
G Am Bm C D Em F#dim
